Once per year in Spring ahead of growing season with a second optional in Autumn to thin out spreading varieties & remove invasives (not optional if needed to clear leaf litter, after final drop – usually late November)

Advantages
Our research with MSc Urban Ecology students at University of Brighton confirms sedum is an excellent food source for pollinators when in flower. Low growing plants that maintain consistency year round provided there is suitable type and quantity of growing medium.
Drawbacks
Limited biodiversity contribution when not in flower. These plants benefit from feeding, but this creates ideal conditions for invasives – which are easily visible and can be unsightly because sedum itself is low-growing. Dislikes shade and poorly draining roofs.
