We were disappointed with the way our sedum roofs seemed so lifeless all the time, and were really pleased with the way Organic Roofs managed to revive them. The process was very professional, and they had some really innovative methods that have worked a treat - the roofs are still thriving 3 years later. We're delighted!Peter | Facilities Manager
We were approached by one of Brighton’s best-known businesses, the Infinity Foods cooperative, to revive the badly installed sedum roofs above their retail space in the bustling North Laine area of Brighton.
Install
After a structural survey demonstrated that the roof was already close to bearing its maximum load we decided to use our Swiss-inspired HayBase [link to spec sheet] method. The plants which were saveable were carefully dug up and set aside, and the substrate bagged for reuse. Locally-procured meadow hay (from Steyning, West Sussex) was then laid and the substrate levelled over the top.
Planting
Finally, the set-aside plants were bedded in and a selection of native annual and perennial wildflowers were oversown.
We are pleased to note that we continue our relationship with Infinity Foods, with an annual care inspection to ensure the roof remains in good health.
